Lorelei Kingfake

Lorelei is the main character of Bloom. She is an apprenticed Mask in the kingdom of Optera. She is mute and talks with sign language, but does so only rarely. Her magic is persuasion, she can influnce the actions of those around her to a certain extent.

Apperance

Lorelei is a thin, freckled girl with brown hair and eyes. Her hair is often kept in a bun, and reaches just below her shoulder blades when loose. She wears clothes standard of children in Optera, dresses with bright blocks of color and simple shoes. Lorelei's are often covered in dirt and have many pockets (self sewn or not). Her favorite clothing colors are green and yellow. She wears a pendant around her neck, signifying her lack of voice. Her fingernails are stained purple.

When completed, her mask takes the form of a pink, 5 petaled flower. It is made of stiff leather.

Lorelei's posture is slouched and minimized. Her eyes tend to be kept down, avoiding eye contact whenever possible. She often acts strangely, grabbing for interesting objects, plants, and anything else that may catch her eye. She does, however, always put the objects back exactly where she found them.

Personality

Background

Lorelei was often sent outside as a child to play alone. She quickly latched onto plants, specifically the flowering kind. She wrote up journals and observations of these plants over many years. Her favorites were plants that grow in strange purple dirt called [[God Drops]]. She studied these plants, the bugs that interacted with them, and even the dirt itself. This caused a strange discoloration in her nails, leading them to turn purple.

Education in Optera is strict, with children funneled into a few overarching tracks. There is often no alternatives for schooling. Lorelei started in the General track before moving to an advanced track, and she quickly became one of the top students. However, she just as quickly became overwhelmed by the amount and difficulty of her work, and started struggling. Her parents, in an attempt to fix this, sent her to a boarding school.

Lorelei's parents have always been distant, refusing to play with her and ignoring her. Around the time Lorelei was born, they recieved a grant from the Kingdom. They quickly milked this, growing in status and friendships. They used Lorelei as only a way to further these things, only caring about her marks in school. The end result is a relationship that leaves room for improvement.

Amaranth is Lorelei's mentor, as assigned by the Fairies of Optera. Lorelei loves her dearly, as she actually listens to and cares for Lorelei.
